MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW)-- The Wisconsin volleyball team finds themselves in the top five of the American Volleyball Coaches Association 2015 Top-25 Preseason poll.

The AVCA released the poll Wednesday afternoon with the Badgers sharing the five spot with Big Ten Conference foe Nebraska. Four other Big Ten teams are ranked in the top 10 while nine Big Ten teams are ranked or received votes.

Wisconsin ended the 2014 season ranked fourth in the AVCA poll after going 31-3 on the year with a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight. The Badgers lost three starters to graduation but bring in one of the best recruiting classes of the year.

Two-time reigning NCAA champion Penn State leads the poll while national semifinalists Stanford and Texas coming in second and third, respectively. Florida is ranked fourth while Nebraska and Wisconsin follow.

The Badgers host their annual Cardinal vs. White scrimmage at noon Aug. 22 in the UW Field House. The team’s annual Fan Fest follows the scrimmage.

Wisconsin opens its season at home, hosting the HotelRED Invitational on Aug. 28-29 in the Field House. UW takes on Western Kentucky, Colgate and College of Charleston in the round-robin tournament.
