Warhawks slated to own WIAC once again

Posted: Updated:

WHITEWATER, Wisconsin (WKOW) -- The reigning Division III national champions are slated to be back on top once again. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team is favored to win the conference championship for the 10th time in the last 11 years, according to the 2015 preseason poll.

The Warhawks claimed their 34th WIAC title last year on their way to their sixth national championship, where they defeated Mount Union (Ohio) in the Stagg Bowl for the second consecutive season.

UW-Whitewater enters the 2015 season on a 32-game win streak, the longest active streak at any level of college football. They return seven starters each on offense and defense, plus both kickers.

Head coach Kevin Bullis enters his first season at the helm of the program.

UW-Platteville, which received votes in the D3football.com Preseason Top 25, is selected to finish second. UW-Oshkosh, ranked 18th by D3football.com, is tabbed third.
