Waunakee's Musso finding place as safety

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW) -- Since Tanner McEvoy's switch back to the offensive side of the ball, the competition at safety has been tough.

Enter redshirt junior and Waunakee native Leo Musso.

The 5'10", 186-pounder was a part of three division two state championships at Waunakee High. Musso's talents gained him entry to the Badgers football team in 2012, where he made the switch from running back to safety. After a redshirt season in 2012, Musso saw playing time in double digit games the following two years, gaining most of his stats from special teams.

Since the need at wide receiver was a major topic of discussion this upcoming season, Musso has been seeing a large amount of reps as the anchor in the backfield.

The Badgers open their season on September 5 in Arlington, Texas, where they go head-to-head with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
