Iowa-Grant renames field after former head coach

LIVINGSTON, Wisconsin (WKOW) -- For 19 years, coach Garry Crull led the Panthers to a state title, five undefeated seasons, and six conference titles. On Friday night, they honored their former coach and teacher for everything he's done by naming their field after him.

The idea to name the field was born last year when Coach Crull was battling liver cancer -- a battle in which he won.

After school Friday, the school held a parade across the campus with Coach Crull as the distinguished Grand Marshall.
Before their game with Riverdale, Iowa-Grant presented Coach Crull with a plaque. At the conclusion of the ceremony, they unveiled the official title of their new field, "Coach Crull Field", located at the the bottom of the schools scoreboard.
As I talked with former players, they said there is no better man to deserve such an honor.

Coach Crull retired in 1993 as the winningest coach in Panther history, compiling a 137-43 record in 33 years of coaching at the school. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1996 and the National High School Athletics Coaches Association in 2007.
