Mosher Sisters set up for success

Posted: Updated:

WATERLOO, Wisc. (WKOW) -- Waterloo's girls volleyball captured their first division 3 state title last year, and are set in grabbing back-to-back titles with the Mosher sisters in the lineup. Madeline, a senior outside hitter, and Claire, a sophomore center, look back on their first state expereince as a blur. On championship point, Claire set up big sister Madeline with the perfect spike to defeat Marathon in three sets, 25-23, 25-20, 28-26.

""I knew that once I set her there was going to be a kill and we were the state champions and everything just happened in the moment. I couldn't have done that without her."

Unlike most sibling rivalries, the two rarely fight even with their personalities differences. Madeline, at 5'11" with long, blonde hair reaching down her back, is more bubbly and free-spirited, while Claire, at 5'10", is more straight-forward and gritty. They say they communicated with almost a twin-like telephay, knowing what the other is thinking just by the look on their face.

"Give each other a stare and we both know," says Claire, "I know what she's thinking."
"We can tell each other what to do I guess more than we could with any other teammate," adds Madeline,"and I know what we're talking about. So I think that's cool."

Claire admits how she looks up to Madeline, but is encouraged to make her own path in life. Madeline verbally committed to Marquette as a junior. The following year, the Golden Eagles started giving looks to the younger Mosher, who gave her commitment as well.

With 10 games left in the season, the pair have helped the Lady Pirates to a number four ranking with a record of 16-8.
