WAUNAKEE (WKOW) -- Friday night kicks off the annual Wauktoberfest event in Waunakee. It is the area's German celebration.
Friday on Wake Up Wisconsin, festival organizer, Oleh Kulas, joined us with a preview of this year's event. The three day festival begins with a performance by Pat McCurdy and a Texas Hold'em tournament.
New this year more German food is being added including giant pickles on sticks, German nachos and a sausage sampler plate. Also a 20 mile bike ride is being added to Sunday's event line-up.
Saturday, Wauktoberfest-goers can enjoy a 100+ beer tasting with 14 local Wisconsin breweries. The Badger game will also be playing on the big screen in the afternoon. Later in the day a popular cover band out of Milwaukee, Cheap Shots, will be performing.
Wauktoberfest has family-friendly events like the Limburger cheese eating contest, sauerkraut eating contest, yodeling contest, inflatable area, 18 hole mini golf, pumpkin decorating, goat feeding and more.
