MADISON, Wis. – Joe Schobert lived up to his nickname “Joe the Show” as he put on quite the performance in last Saturday’s game vs. Iowa. The senior outside linebacker finished the day with eight tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and five quarterback hurries.

For his performance, Schobert was named Big Ten co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, alongside Iowa’s Desmond King. It is Schobert’s second defensive Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award and the first for the program since Schobert earned the honor on Nov. 17, 2014.

Schobert leads the nation with 9.0 sacks this season, averaging 1.80 per game. He also leads the country in tackles for loss with 13.0 TFLs for 82 yards and is tied for the national lead with four forced fumbles.

Schobert, a honorable mention All-Big Ten pick last year, has collected 36 total tackles, with 22 of those coming as solo stops, this season.

The Waukesha native has anchored a Badgers defense that ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense, at 9.6 points per game.
