Badger Honor Flight preps for final flight of the season

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Badger Honor Flight will take its final flight of the season on Saturday.

The group will take off from Dane County Regional Airport early Saturday morning with 88 veterans headed to Washington, D.C. to check out the memorials built in their honor.

On Thursday, Brian Ziegler, President of Badger Honor Flight stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the upcoming flight.

According to Ziegler, 4 are WWII veterans, 82 Korean veterans, and 3 Korea & Vietnam from all 5 branches of service are expected to take part in Saturday's flight.

Ziegler says the organization is actively seeking World War II and Korean Era Veterans to sign up for future trips.

Veterans will spend the day at places like Arlington National Cemetery and the WWII Memorial.

The Badger Honor Flight will returns home to Madison late Saturday evening.  The public is invited out to the airport to welcome them home.
