Better Business Bureau hosts "ShredFest" on Saturday

Posted: Updated:

(Madison, WI   WKOW) -- The Better Business Bureau is hosting an event Saturday that will let you shred many of your old, important documents safely.

Bring your personal documents to the BBB ShredFest,  Saturday  at Summit Credit Union, 2424 Rimrock Rd., Madison from 8:30 a.m to 11:00 a.m.  There is a limit of three paper bags per car.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft is the nation’s number one complaint. One of the most common methods used by thieves to steal personal information is dumpster diving, which entails rummaging through trash looking for old bills and other documents containing personal information.

BBB of Wisconsin Foundation, Summit Credit Union and Pellitteri Data Destruction are co-sponsors. The effort is  part of a larger, national shredding event hosted by BBB offices throughout the United States. Many BBB offices – including the Wisconsin BBB – host shredding events twice annually. The BBB shredded more than 87,600 pounds of material at our Spring ShredFest events.
