MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison Ballet kicks off the season with its original rock ballet Dracula at the Capitol Theater inside the Overture Center.
They will do just three performances Friday and Saturday before taking the show on the road for a tour. The performances are Friday, October 16 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 17 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets range from $14 - $70. You can get them by clicking on this link.
Dracula isn't your typical ballet. The award-winning rock score from local composer Michael Massey is seen live on stage with a seven-piece band. Dancers are dressed in steampunk gear that tells a Gothic story with original choreography by Artistic Director W. Earle Smith. "Dracula is the crown jewel of Madison Ballet's repertoire, having been conceived, written and premiered here in Madison," Smith says. "We are so excited to have it back for three more performances at home before taking this world-class show on tour."
After Madison, the show will perform in Oshkosh and Springfield, Missouri.
