Badgers offensive line might shuffle once again

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW) -- The Badgers narrowly avoided dropping to 0-2 in conference play last weekend, and now they look to add another mark in the win column when Purdue comes to town this Homecoming weekend.

While the offense had a much better performance against the Huskers than in their Big Ten opener, there are some burning questions about their offensive line.
Injuries have held back the big boys up front the entire season and so far, there have been four different rotations in just six games.
And now, center Dan Voltz, one of the few veterans on the line, may be sidelined for Saturday's game with a left elbow injury, possibly giving way to another O-line combination.

The constant shuffle can be seen as an issue, but the players insist this has been a problem that they've faced all year long.

"We've been dealing with that since last spring, "says Michael Deiter, a redshirt freshman who has bounced around the line this season, "In camp we had a lot of different rotation changes so as crazy as it seems, I mean, we're kind of used to it. It's not really that big of a deal."

Senior Tyler Marz backs up his fellow lineman.

"That's something we don't really think about though either," Marz added, "It's just next guy in. Whether it's Deiter jumping around or Kapoi or Walker or whoever it is, you know it's just next guy in and they gotta be able to play a few different positions and that's the way it is."
