Sun Prairie homicide suspect found incompetent to stand trial

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) --- A Dane County judge says the medical report on 40-year-old Matthew Skalitzky found he was not competent to stand trial in the death of his mother in September.

In court Wednesday, the medical report says Skalitzky may be competent after treatment.

Skalitzky is now committed to the Department of Health Services for no longer than 12 months.  Reports on his competency will be updated to the courts at three, six, and nine months.

Skalitzky was charged with first-degree intentional homicide after police say he used a sword to kill his mother at a home in Sun Prairie September 11.
