Badgers forward Nigel Hayes spent offseason crashing weddings

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin men's basketball team hits the court Wednesday night, holding its only exhibition game before the season starts. Nigel Hayes is priming for a big season on the court, after a busy offseason at the wedding chapel. Hayes is still very much a bachelor, but in a tell-all article published by Sports Illustrated, Hayes came clean about how he enjoys crashing weddings. His first experience was with a friend from home, but he's since involved some of his Badger teammates, crashing roughly six weddings in total. Unlike the guys from the movie "Wedding Crashers," it's a little harder for a college basketball player to remain incognito.

"People kind of know who I am, which I didn't know that much of. I always go with someone else, so when I walk in there I always try to be as low key as possible and then all it takes is one person to go is that Nigel? And then the next thing you know is you hear [commotion] in the background and it's like welp we're found out," Hayes said.

"Me and Nigel went to a wedding. It was fun just cause just cause we were on our own. We didn't know anyone there. It's good team bonding really. I would suggest more teams do that," Badgers forward Ethan Happ said.
