Wisconsin Veterans will be honored Wednesday at special ceremony

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- November in the Veterans community is a special month.  On November 11, we recognize Veterans Day, a day to honor all those who honorably served as a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine or Coast Guardsman.

On Tuesday, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary John Scocos stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the upcoming event.

Wisconsin servicemembers have served in all the major conflicts of the past century, from the World Wars to Korea, Vietnam, the 1991 Gulf War, Afghanistan, and again in Iraq.  Scocos says, it's our duty not only to care for them when they return home, but also to honor their service.

This year on November 11 at the State Capitol, local and state leader will pay tribute to all our veterans.  The ceremony will also specially recognize our Vietnam veterans as part of the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.
