WAUNAKEE (WKOW) -

Jada Dayne is following a family tradition. The daughter of former Badgers running back Ron Dayne can now lay claim to her own Heisman. The Waunakee senior was named the female recipient of the Wendy's High School Heisman in the state of Wisconsin.

"It's great. It's wonderful. My dad is super supportive. So is my mom. Everyone is kind of making fun of me, not really making of fun of me, but kind of like joking about how my dad won the Heisman. So, there's kind of that connection there. It's just really cool to be recognized for something more than sports."

Dayne has excelled in both basketball and soccer. She helped lead the Warriors to the state semifinals in basketball last season. She won a state championship in soccer as a sophomore. Dayne has been an all-state selection on the pitch. She has verbally committed to play soccer at Michigan next year.

Dayne's accomplishments also extend to the classroom where she carries a 3.9 GPA. With this lengthy list of accomplishments, Jada says people are finally identifying her as something more than just Ron Dayne's daughter.

"I definitely have created more of a name for myself. I mean it still does get brought up, but, otherwise, I've done pretty well for myself I think."

Dayne is now up for the national High School Heisman Award. That will be announced on Dec. 11.
