UPDATE(WKOW) -- A fire that destroyed an 1860's Spring Green Church remains under investigation.

This as the Cornerstone Church vows to rise from the ashes.

"There's nothing that would lead me think this was suspicious," the church's pastor Derek Miller said.

ATF Agents along with state and local fire officials spent the better part of the day looking into why the historic church went up in flames in just a matter of minutes.

Spring Green Sergeant Andrew Kurek was married in the church 14 years ago, he says he's devastated by the loss.

"It was just a beautiful old church a small church..and every day I'd look over at the church, and I see the beautiful stain glass in it, it's just a real sad loss real sad to see an old building like this go,"  Sgt. Kurek said.

As for the building, he says there were renovations being done to the inside.

And Pastor Miller says there is old electrical inside the church and work was being done.

He says the flock will rebuild.

"I learned when I was very young, the church is not the building, the church is the people and that's what is not threatened by the fire."

And when they do rebuild, they will be able to use the bell that is as old as the church itself.

Firefighters found it had fallen from the steeple and into the second floor where they were able to salvage it.

"It's something you never want to see lost," Spring Green's First Assistant Fire Chief Marty Buringa said.
