MADISON (WKOW) -- Verona's Beata Nelson finished her high school swimming career as one of the most successful swimmers in state history. In her final WIAA State Swim Meet on Saturday, Nelson broke two more of her own records and won four state titles. Nelson broke a state record in the 100-yard butterfly, topping her own mark at 51.62 seconds. She also set a state mark in the 100-yard backstroke, breaking her own record at 52.13 seconds. Nelson and her Verona/Mt. Horeb team also won titles in the 200-yard medley (1:43.96) and the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:33.97). In her four year career, Nelson now holds 12 state titles.
