MADISON (WKOW) -- The holiday parties are about to start if they haven't already, and a registered dietitian from Dean Clinic is offering some advice.
Marianne Merrick says there are simple things you can do to keep your health in check. She says it's all about portion control. "Eat before you leave for the party," Merrick says. "Allow yourself small indulgences and 'plan and scan.'"
Merrick says it's also a good idea to drink water to stay hydrated, especially if you plan to have alcohol at a party.
Merrick also offered a modified recipe on a Sweet Potato Casserole that has less fat. Click here for the Sweet Potato Casserole recipe featured on Wake Up Wisconsin. Click on the video to watch Merrick's interview and for more of her tips.
