MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police arrested a young man after a road rage incident where they say he began waving a handgun at another driver.

The Madison Police Department says around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday on South Stoughton Road near East Broadway, a 30-year-old Belleville man cut close to the suspect's car while making a lane change. The suspect flipped off the victim, then pulled out the handgun.

The Belleville man told police he was scared, because "you just never know." He got the suspect's license plate and police found the car a short time later. Police say the gun turned out to be one that contains BBs, but looks real.

The suspect told police he pulled the gun out because he thought the other driver was reaching for something.

The suspect, Alec J.R. Wickland, 19 of Madison, was arrested a tentative charge of Disorderly Conduct/Use of Weapon.
