MADISON (WKOW) -- Some people put up their Christmas lights right even before Thanksgiving; others say, once the Macy's parade is over, it's anybody's choice for taking care of this yearly ritual.
However, etiquette experts differ on when exactly to take the twinklers down.
If you belong to a homeowners association, you'll want to make sure you're not in violation by keeping yours up too long.
Also, many city ordinances don't permit holiday light displays past a certain date.
Check with your local law enforcement agency to see if your plans to leave yours up a while might be affected.
In Madison, you can still see the Electric Group's Holiday Fantasy in Lights until January 3, 2016. WKOW is a proud sponsor of this festive event.
