MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- Mount Horeb-Barneveld's head coach, Travis Rohrer, has resigned after spending eight seasons with the Vikings.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, but now Rohrer speaks for the first time on camera about his decision.
Rohrer, who has two young children, 9-year-old Freddy and 5-year-old Charlie, says the hours and the commute to Mount Horeb has taken away too much time from his sons. Both Rohrer and wife Karen are teachers at schools in Madison.

Since Rohrer's arrival in 2008, the Vikings found success, making the WIAA playoffs every year and winning at least one postseason game each of those seasons. Before his arrival, the Vikings had never won a playoff game.
