USA Climbing returns to Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- USA Climbing, the United States National Governing Body for the sport of competition climbing is returning to Monona Terrace in Madison.

On Thursday, Angie Payne, with USA Climbing stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the event.

The Open National Championship will take place on January 29th and 30th, 2016 and the Youth National Championship will take place on February 5th, 6th and 7th. Both of these events will occur at Monona Terrace. The Citizens’ National Championship will take place on January 30th at Boulders, the commercial climbing gym located in Madison.

“We are thrilled to be going back to Madison and Monona Terrace for a second year,” said Kynan Waggoner, CEO of USA Climbing. “Last year’s events were a huge success, and we expect to only improve on that success this year. The city of Madison and the locally owned and operated Boulders Climbing Gym were incredibly welcoming, and we couldn’t be happier about the Bouldering Championships returning to the shores of Lake Monona.”
