Tibesar "not bitter" about not getting defensive coordinator spot with Badgers

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis.(WKOW) -- Tim Tibesar joined the Wisconsin program in 2014 as the outside linebackers coach and when defensive coordinator Dave Aranda left for the same position at LSU, Tibesar was seen as one of the likely candidates for the position.

On January 27, reports came out saying USC's former defensive coordinator, Justin Wilcox, was finalizing a deal to take over. The following day, the deal was made official.

Tibesar had all the experience for the defensive coordinator job. He served the role in four different schools, including two Big Ten schools. Head Coach Paul Chryst praised Tibesar for developing a strong linebacker core that included Big Ten Linebacker of the Year Joe Schobert.

After National Signing Day, Tibesar spoke with the media about not getting the job, saying he had no hard feelings.

"This is a business. And we're all fortunate to be in this business. I think we have a great staff here. I think Justin is a great addition to this staff. I'm not bitter about it. I'm excited for what the future holds and for our football team. We got a great schedule next year with a lot of challenges and a lot of opportunity for us to do well. Looking forward to the next season."
