MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- After starting the season 1 and 4 in Big Ten play, Wisconsin has rattled off five straight wins after defeating Ohio State 79-68 on Thursday night.

Nigel Hayes came into the game averaging 17 points per game, but was held to just three in the first half. Hayes shook off the rough start and put together a 21-point performance, with 18 points in the final 20 minutes. He also led the team with seven rebounds.

Both Bronson Koenig and Jordan Hill drained 3-three pointers in the contest. Wisconsin hit a season-high 13 3-pointers by the end of it.

Ethan Happ, a three-time winner of the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week honors, had 12 points and five boards.

The Buckeyes, who dropped their second straight, were led by Freshman JaQuan Lyle, who put up 27 points on 11 of 19 shooting.

The Badgers (14-9, 6-4 BT) and the Buckeyes (14-10, 6-5 BT) can keep themselves in the discussion for the NCAA Tournament if they put together some quality wins in the final ten games of the season.

Wisconsin hosts Nebraska Wednesday, February 10. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
