Posted: Updated:

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Per UW Athletics) — Ohio State (9-17-3, 4-8-3-1 Big Ten) overcame a two-goal third-period deficit, but Matthew Freytag scored the lone shootout goal in the sixth round to help Wisconsin (6-15-8, 1-10-4-2 Big Ten) grab two points in a 4-4 tie with the Buckeyes on Friday night.

The tie gave Wisconsin its eighth draw this season, equaling the school record of eight ties from the 2003-04 season.

Seamus Malone netted his fifth goal of the season with just 43 seconds left in the first to tie the game at two. Malone has goals in back to back games for the first time in his career.

The final-minute goal in the first period now gives Wisconsin 10 goals in the last minute of a period this season, which includes three game-tying goals in the final minute of regulation.

Matt Ustaski’s second-period tally gave Wisconsin a 3-2 lead. It was Ustaski’s second goal of the season, snapping a 12-game stretch without a goal.
