Girl's unique Make-A-Wish helps the whole city

MISSOURI (WKOW) -- A brave little girl battling cancer in Kansas City wanted to help out her community by making it look better.

Eight-year-old Amelia Meyer is fighting brain cancer. When Make-A-Wish gave her the chance to ask for anything her heart desires, she chose to pick up trash around her neighborhood.

"It doesn't look nice," Amelia said. "Another reason is because it can stay dirty and it can get animals sick."

Hundreds of people showed up to help Amelia and her friends pick up trash all over Kansas City. The mayor even declared the day as 'Amelia Meyer Take Care of Your World' day.

"I know some kids might want to go to Disneyworld and stuff," Amelia's best friend Samantha Asquith said, "or meet famous people, but I really feel like Amelia picked the right wish."
