MADISON (WKOW) -

Badgers goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens is up for the top award in women's college hockey. The junior has been named one of three finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.

Desbiens recently broke the NCAA Division 1 record with her 18th shutout of the season. She leads the nation with a 0.77 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage.

"I'm certainly excited for her, her family and the program," UW head coach Mark Johnson said in a press release. "If you look at the body of work over the regular season and playoffs, her numbers this year are in a category we've never seen before."

Desbiens is the fifth player in school history to be named a top-three finalist. Desbiens is looking to become just the third goaltender to win the award.
