WEST SALEM (WKOW) -- For busy parents, getting kids to school in the morning can be a challenge, and getting them a nutritious breakfast can be even more difficult.
Now, the West Salem School District implemented the "Breakfast in the Classroom Program." Breakfast bags are prepared every morning by nutrition staff who receive orders from teachers the day before. After a healthy breakfast, kids are ready to start a day of learning.
Even the school nurse has seen a difference. She says, "In the past, I used to have kids that would come down in the beginning of the day and have a tummy ache, or they wouldn't feel good. Since we started the breakfast in the classroom, I haven't had one child come down with a stomach ache in the morning, not one."
