Stoughton set for first tournament appearance since 1998
STOUGHTON (WKOW) -- On Friday the Stoughton High School girls basketball team will make its first appearance in the Division II state tournament since 1998. The Vikings face Onalaska at 1:35 pm from the Resch Center in Green Bay. Stoughton needed an overtime period to squeak by Union Grove 35-34 in the sectional final last Saturday. Stoughton started off its season 1-2, but has won 23 straight games entering the state tournament.
"It's been a great winter to be a Viking. Saturday we get done and the girls want to watch wrestlers and they walk in to watch the wrestling and they get a standing ovation as they're walking in," Stoughton head coach Brad Pickett said.
"This has been a goal for us as we started the season. It's a tight group of girls, we're all close friends on and off the court and we're just really excited we have our next goal in mind which is to win state," Stoughton senior Hannah Hobson said.
All WIAA basketball tournament games can be seen on WKOW.
