Late 12-0 run lifts New Berlin Eisenhower over Stoughton for WIAA D2 title
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- New Berlin Eisenhower rallied with a late 12-0 run and got two clinching free throws from freshman Julia Hintz with 3.7 seconds left to beat Stoughton 46-42 for the WIAA Division 2 girls state basketball championship on Saturday. Stoughton (25-3) got 12 points and eight rebounds from Marissa Robson and 11 points from Hannah Hobson. Stoughton led 36-27 on a fast-break basket by Payton Kuhl before Eisenhower (23-5) rallied, sparked by back-to-back 3-pointers by Hintz and Abby Thyne. Chelsea Brackmann's rebound basket gave the Lions a 37-36 lead. She added a pair of layups and three late free throws before Hintz clinched the school's second state title from the foul line. Hintz scored 12 points, Emalie Hahn added 11 and Brackmann chipped in 10 for the Lions.
