The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents has scheduled an executive committee meeting for Tuesday at 5 p.m. to "consider an employment agreement and compensation for a UW-Madison head women’s basketball coach and a UW-Madison head men’s hockey coach."

Various reports indicate the Badgers are on the verge of hiring Tony Granato as the men's hockey coach. The former Badgers player is currently an assistant with the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed Wisconsin's interest in his assistant.

"We're very aware of the fact that Tony and Wisconsin are talking. There's nothing official at this point. Until something becomes official, we'll have no comment on it."

Blashill added that he expected Granato to stay with the Red Wings through the remainder of the season.

"Tony is committed to being a Red Wings assistant coach throughout the rest of the regular season and in to the playoffs as long as we play."

Granato played 13 seasons in the NHL before becoming a coach. He served as the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche on two different occasions.
