Wheelwright hoping to catch on as No. 1 receiver for Badgers

MADISON (WKOW) -

When Rob Wheelwright last took the playing field, he made, arguably, the catch of the year against USC in the Holiday Bowl.

"He's Mr. Top 10," says fellow receiver Jazz Peavy. "Rob, he's got a lot of confidence too now because he can make those plays"

But as far as Wheelwright is concerned, that highlight is history.

"That's in the past. This year's my time when we play LSU to make another great catch"

Last season as a junior for the Badgers, Wheelwright was really starting to catch on as a full-time contributor.

"After some of the games like Miami (OH), Alabama, the first half at Illinois, I kind of knew I can make plays. Just my thing about staying out there and staying healthy."

Injuries have stunted Wheelwright's growth at times. However, with Alex Erickson gone, Wheelwright will be needed more than ever entering his senior season.

"Last year, I wish it would've been more of a breakout season for me if I didn't get injured, but this year this is all I got. This is it. So put it all on the table and see how it ends up."

This is Wheelwright's time to be the go-to guy. He's got big plans for his final season as a Badger.

"There's a lot of things I want to do. Compete with Abbrederis on the most catches every season. I've just been looking up a lot of those stats and history just to see what I can do and see where I can be"
