A man accused of shooting his niece's husband near Osseo nearly two years ago is sentenced after pleading guilty to attempted homicide and armed robbery.
William Ledford entered guilty pleas to charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide-Attempted and Armed Robbery during a hearing Monday in Trempealeau County Circuit Court.
Judge John Damon then sentenced Ledford to 40 years in prison followed by 20 years of extended supervision.
It was in September, 2014 that Ledford, who had just got out of prison, came to Jon and Wendy Hageness' home and forced Jon at gunpoint to write him checks totaling $5,000.
Investigators said Ledford then shot him in the back. Hageness said he then pretended to be dead. Ledford then fired twice at his head, but missed.
