Local firefighters host hockey tournament to help area kids

MADISON (WKOW) - Firefighters from all over the Midwest will gather in Madison for a hockey tournament to raise money for local kids.

The 5th Annual "Fire on Ice" tournament is a fundraising event to benefit Firefighters Local 311 charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Madison Ice Inc. skating programs for kids with disabilities. Fire departments who have hockey teams get together to battle it out on the ice at Madison Ice Arena this Friday through Sunday, April 22-24. 

Admission is free and includes a silent auction, raffles, food and more. Friday at 7:30 is the kick-off ceremony recognizing Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and kids. Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. you can watch hockey games on the main ice or the 3 on 3 hockey scramble in the studio rink. 

The raffle and silent auction items include a gas grill, Kalahari 2 night package, Badger football and hockey tickets, $250 in Woodman's gift cards and more.

Fire departments from Madison, Fitchburg, Beloit, Janesville, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Minneapolis, Duluth, St. Paul, Chicago and the Chicago Suburbs will participate in the hockey tournament.
