UPDATE: Both girls' conditions improving after being hit by truck in Middleton

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Police say the girls hit by a truck Thursday in Middleton are doing better today.

Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke tells 27 News the middle-school age girls are now in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Both are still in the hospital, but their conditions are improving. 

The girls are 12 and 13-years-old and are both 7th graders at Kromrey Middle School. The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District plans to have counselors available all day Friday at Kromrey to meet with students, family, friends, witnesses or anyone else affected by what happened.

The driver who hit the girls is also still in the hospital. Chief Foulke says they won't release his name until he's released from the hospital, but can tell us he's a 30-year-old man with connections to Middleton. His last known address was in Edgerton.


UPDATE (WKOW) -- All roads are now open after an accident in Middleton where two juvenile pedestrians were hit by a truck.


MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- Middleton Police Chief Charles Faulke says that each of the juvenile females hit sustained serious injuries.

As of 10:45 PM, only Century Avenue east of High Road had reopened. Police expect to reopen all roads by 11:05 PM Thursday.


MIDDLETON (WKOW) --- The Dane County Sheriff's Office says two juvenile female pedestrians were hit by a truck at the corner of CTH M and Frank Lloyd Wright Drive in Middleton.

Both girls are being transported to a local hospital, their injuries are unknown.

Officials say that at 3:45 p.m. a deputy witnessed a white truck driving erratically and speeding on CTH M near Oncken Drive in the town of Westport.  When the deputy tried to make a traffic stop, the suspect refused to stop.

Officials say the deputy terminated the pursuit when they started to enter Middleton.  Just minutes later, the suspect vehicle hit and injured the two pedestrians.

The suspect is in custody and also being treated by EMS.

The incident is under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.


MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- Dane County Communications tells 27 News a short pursuit in Middleton has ended with three separate crashes.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says they were involved in a pursuit with a suspect around 3:45 Thursday afternoon.  Nearly 10 minutes later it was over, but then the suspect started driving away again.  That's when the vehicle struck two young girls at the intersection of Donna and Frank Lloyd Wright.

The other two crashes were on Northbrook and Century and on Century Ave. and Century Ln.  

The girls have both been transported to the hospital and the suspect is currently in custody and being looked at by EMS.  No word on the extent of the girls' injuries or why the pursuit began.
