The game of golf and a mother's love

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (WKOW) -- Bentley Glass knows the game of golf is a solitary sport, but he also knows that an angel is right there beside him every drive, chip, and putt.

A senior from Fort Atkinson, Glass captured the 2016 Monona Grove Invitational, winning by three strokes with a score of 67. The first person he thought about following his victory was his mother, Shelley, who passed away from breast cancer in October of 2014.

Since her passing, Glass honors her every time he steps on the course by wearing custom-made shoes, complete with a pink stripe, a pink ribbon, and the word "MOM" stitched onto the heels.

Shelley Glass was an angel even before death.

Two weeks after learning of her diagnosis, she decided to set up her own foundation, the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition. Since their opening, more than 50 families in the surrounding areas have been helped. The coalition also offers free mammograms and free wigs for those who are accepted into the program.
