JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin has a sweet, energetic dog who's been waiting for a new home since Christmas Day.

Marty, about 3 years old, is a bully breed who came into the shelter on Christmas. He likes to cuddle and Rachel Patterson with the humane society says he'd really like to get out with his new family this summer for hikes.

Patterson says Marty would do fine in a family that has older kids. If the family has other animals, they should be bigger dogs as he has some size to him. "No cats!" says Patterson and probably no small kids. "He's a big boy!" She wants to make sure no he doesn't knock anyone or any small pets over.

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin also has a microchip clinic coming up May 14 and May 15 from noon until 4 at its shelter. You can get your pet a microchip for $15 or their nails trimmed for $10. For more information, click here.
