A playground installed just a few weeks ago in Cameron Park was vandalized over the last couple of days.

The La Crosse Parks and Rec. Department was contacted by the police department's resource officers who first discovered the inappropriate words and pictures written in Sharpie on the equipment.
Jay Odegaard, Parks Facilities, Recreation, and Forestry Supervisor for the La Crosse Parks and Rec. Department, said it's extremely upsetting.
"It's obviously disappointing, but one bad person isn't going to ruin it for everybody and we're going to get our crews out here as soon as possible and they're going to have it all cleaned up. We'll just kind of continue forward with it," said Odegaard.
The structure was put in place to serve the needs of kids in the downtown area, who prior to this really didn't have an area to play.
"We use something called Elephant Snot that seems to work really well on graffiti. So we'll be out here and we'll get it cleaned up and really work with the police department to stop this from happening in the future," added Odegaard.
They also plan to install a security camera system which will help them and local law enforcement monitor the playground and park area.
