(WKOW) – Officials with McCall Farms Incorporated have announced a voluntary recall of Piggly Wiggly brand frozen Yellow Cut Corn due to a potential risk of listeria.
McCall Farms Inc.'s supplier, CRF Frozen Foods, notified the company of the possible risk linked to the frozen corn. Listeria monocytongenes is an organism that can cause mild to severe illness, especially in newborns, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, abdominal pain, stiffness, and nausea.
Officials with the FDA say the recall applies to the following product: -Piggly Wiggly brand Frozen Yellow Cut Corn in a 2 lb bag -UPC number: 4129075181 -Lot Code: CORN0J14FXA
Piggly Wiggly has removed all of the potentially affected products in this recall from its stores. Officials say if you have the affected product, throw it away and do not eat it.
