MADISON (WKOW) -- Brat Fest opens Friday and runs through Monday this Memorial Day weekend with many new things for the entire family.
There's a special focus on veterans this year, says Brat Fest organizer Tim Metcalfe. Metcalfe stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin Thursday to talk about the event.
This year's World Largest Brat Fest takes place Friday, May 27th, through Monday, May 30th, on Willow Island at the Alliant Energy Center.
The headliners for this year's Brat Fest include rocker Lita Ford, country star Travis Tritt, rock cover band Cherry Pie, and rock/country artist Aaron Lewis. Click here to find a full list of the headliners.
In addition, Brat Fest has added several new activities to this year's event.
Metcalfe says there's a special focus on veterans this year. New to this year’s Brat Fest is a special exhibit, Wisconsin Remembers: A Face for Every Name. The exhibit features a photo for each of the 1,161 Wisconsinites listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. along with an additional 83 names that are listed on The Highground Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Neillsville, WI. In total, 1,244 Wisconsinites are remembered for their service and sacrifice.
Also new this year, helicopter rides will be available throughout the festival grounds during the entire weekend of Brat Fest.
People will be able to attend a Cake Brat (a brat inside of a pancake) breakfast on Sunday, May 29th.
