CHICAGO (WKOW) -- 90 hour work weeks don't bother ABC 7 Chicago janitor Keanon Kyle, he says. Keanon doesn't spend all of those hours cleaning though.
"I have three jobs. I'm a vocal coach. I'm a maintenance man at ABC News. I also do visual merchandising for a department store. And I sing opera on the side," says the 27-year-old.
Keanon says he's been singing for nearly 20 years, and one of the best places to practice is in the Chicago ABC station's bathroom. He may not be singing there for long though. "My quest is to go overseas and blow up, and be able to come back here to sing with the Lyric and the Met, the Ryan Opera Center and just sing opera for the rest of my life," says Keanon.
The first part of his quest may be happening soon. WLS reports this summer, Keanon will be playing a lead role in La Boheme in Scotland.
Keanon was raised on the south side of Chicago and started singing with the Chicago Children's Choir when he was 8 years old. He went to Morgan Park High School and Columbia College. Last year, he performed opera in Italy.
