Local golfers leading after first day of WIAA state meet

VERONA (WKOW) -

A pair of local golfers are leading after day one of the WIAA state boy's golf meet. Emmet Herb of Middleton and Logan Walzer of Lodi are leading their respective divisions at University Ridge Golf Course.

Herb led all golfers by firing a 68. He is -4. That gives the Middleton star a five-stroke lead in Division 1 heading into the final round on Tuesday. Middleton is currently in second place in the team portion behind Marquette.

In Division 2, Walzer is tied with Matt Bachmann of Sheboygan Falls for the lead at Even. Matthew Davidson of McFarland is tied for fourth.

In Division 3, Spring Valley's Tyler Leach has the lead at +1. Mitchel Steiner from Argyle/Pecatonica was the top local finisher on the first day with a +4. He is tied for third.
