Five local baseball teams punched their tickets to next week's WIAA state baseball tournament in Grand Chute. Janesville Craig, Sun Prairie, Middleton, Lodi and Ithaca all clinched sectional championships on Tuesday.
In Division 1, the Big Eight Conference will be well-represented with three participants. Janesville Craig earned a state berth by beating Verona 2-0 in the title game. The Cougars will play Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. against an undetermined opponent. Sun Prairie rallied in the final inning to beat Oconomowoc for a trip to state with a 8-7 victory. The Cardinals will play Arrowhead on Tuesday at roughly 3:30 p.m. Middleton will play Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. after beating La Crosse Logan for the sectional championship 5-4.
In Division 2, Lodi slugged past Whitewater 8-2 for a sectional title. The Blue Devils will face Milwaukee Lutheran next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
In Division 4, Ithaca edged Hillsboro 9-8. The Bulldogs will battle Green Bay NEW Lutheran next Thursday at 8 a.m.
