Wisconsinites celebrate Dairy Month this June with farm breakfasts, festivals & more

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- It's no wonder Wisconsin is called the Dairy State with more than 1.2 million dairy cows and 2 billion pounds of milk produced every month! Wisconsinites made 3 billion pounds of cheese last year.

The Wisconsin Dairy Council and Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board celebrates Dairy Month every June and they need a whole 30 days to do it because there are so many hard working dairy farmers and dairy producing workers who create delicious foods for the world to eat.

The agencies are sharing a new collection of recipes this month for you to use whether you're heading to family parties, picnics or just making dinner. You can find them online here. Angie Edge with The Wisconsin Dairy Council/Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board shared a recipe for Chocolate French Toast topped with real chocolate milk and real butter and whipped cream Wednesday morning on Wake Up Wisconsin. Click on the video to see more.

All month, you can also head to farm breakfasts, festivals and other events across Wisconsin. Visit this website for a full list of events connected to June Dairy Month.
