STOUGHTON (WKOW) -- Four Stoughton families are helping children in their community with a charity they formed a few years ago. They originally started raising money to help their friend, Ella. But it grew into something much bigger. Now, Kids-4-Kids is raising tens of thousands of dollars to help Stoughton-area families.
Maggie, 11, and her mom Rachel came on Wake Up Wisconsin Thursday to talk about their latest project: a garage sale Saturday, June 11. Their organization actually started with a garage sale to help Ella in June of 2013. She was seven at the time and had a brain tumor. Her family needed help paying for special treatments in Boston. The Langenohl, Unitan, Gile and Hembrook families all put on the sale to raise money. Now, they make up Kids-4-Kids, where they kids play a lead role in their charity events. Ella's tumor has shrunk with the treatments and she is one of the most enthusiastic members of the group, Rachel says.
The garage sale is from 8:00 a.m. - Noon June 11 at 2225 Hilldale Circle in Stoughton. If you can't go to the sale, you can still make a tax deductible donation to Kids-4-Kids by sending it to P.O. Box 141, Stoughton, WI 53589. Proceeds from the sale will go to children in need.
