Oregons' four-goal second half seals victory over Waunakee in sectional quarterfinal

OREGON, Wis. (WKOW) -- Oregon continues their quest to another Division 2 state title with a 5-1 victory over Waunakee in their sectional quarterfinals on Thursday.

The Panthers quickly applied pressure to junior goaltender Linnea Weiss, netting their first goal just eight minutes into the game. Makena Fanning received a great inside pass, splitting two defenders in the box. Her first shot nicked Weiss, while her second shot hit the crossbar. Senior captain Jen Brien was let alone in the box, collected the rebound, and finished with a one-time flick of the boot.

Oregon would have multiple chances in the first half, but would head into the halftime holding just the one goal lead.

Within the first few minutes of the second half the Warriors would find the back of the net, but the Panthers would net four more to seal the victory.

They will face either Milton or Burlington on Saturday at Waunakee High School at 3 pm.
