It took 93 minutes, but MaKena Fanning finally found the back of the net as the Oregon girls soccer team punched their tickets back to state.
The top-ranked Panthers faced third-seeded Milton in the sectional finals in Waunakee on a hot and humid Saturday night. Both teams had multiple chances in both halves, but both goalkeepers kept the goose-eggs on the board through regulation.
Three minutes and thirty seconds into overtime, senior Fanning found the game winner.
The Panthers will face Pulaski in the Division 2 semifinals, Friday, June 17 at noon at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
