KIEL (WKOW) -- Wisconsin is known for its award-winning cheese and there are many businesses behind the scenes that help support cheesemakers.
Terry Beckman got his start in the dairy industry at Stoelting Company where he was a welder manufacturing dairy and cheesemaking equipment. When his wife asked him to retire, he decided to open a business refurbishing curd knives for cheese companies.
Beckman says, "As far as I know, I'm the only person that does this particular type of job anywhere that just focuses on curd knives."
Beckman started the business in 2001. He has a client base that's worldwide. In addition to helping cheesemakers throughout the U.S., he has repaired and manufactured curd knives for clients in Africa, Panama, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
