MADISON (WKOW) -- You probably know someone you consider a hero. Think about who that is. The Dane County Fair and WJJO-Radio wants to get to know them.

Five Hometown Hero Awards will be given out at the Dane County Fair this year and they're taking nominations now. The fair runs from July 20-24. The Hometown Hero Awards honor those in the military, firefighters, police and first responders. The Fair will select five winners at random to win four free daily entrance passes to the fair, two meet-and-greets to the JJO backstage with Bobaflex, ride coupons, on-stage recognition, free food and drinks, and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Applications are due Friday, July 1. To nominate your Hometown Hero, click here.

In addition to the Hometown Hero Award, all military personnel and public servants with proper identification will get complimentary admission and special deals from certain vendors at the fair. To learn more about this year's Dane County Fair, head to this website
