MESA, AZ (WKOW) -- The family of a 13-year-old who might not have many birthdays left is trying to make every birthday bigger and better than the last.
Jacob Priestley has a life-threatening mitochondrial disease that's weakened every cell in his body.
Last year his mom posted on Facebook for people to send him a silly or funny card. He ended up getting 8,000 cards. He says his favorite ones are from other terminally-ill children. "They make me feel better, and they just make me happy," says Jacob.
This year, his goal is to get more than 10,000 birthday cards. His birthday isn't until August, so you still have plenty of time to send one.
